There were a lot of buy-backs during 'Nam. I bought some surplus stuff - electronics, but I cannot recall just which, but the FBI was at my door a couple of weeks later, wanting it back. My best recollection was it was not ham-useful, but came in a larger batch. I gave it back to them for what I paid for the whole batch.
