Sorry - R-27, of course.

It's an R-26 modified for remote tuning, normally with an ART-13.

I got this hacked R-27 at the TRW Swap Meet this past weekend. It has a 1:1 ratio worm drive assembly installed in place of the regular worm drive with its tuning shaft projecting through a new hole that is 7/16" above the hole for the regular tuning shaft. The dial and all of the gears for it have been removed and a 3/16" thick aluminum backer plate has been installed behind the panel to cover up the holes for the dial shaft and regular tuning shaft. Nine new holes have been drilled in the front panel to accomplish these mods.

My question is, were did this 1:1 gear drive come from?  It fits the mounting studs on the R-27 tuning capacitor perfectly, like it was made for the job.  A half turn on its shaft smoothly turns the tuning cap through its full range.  I've seen bevel gears to accomplish a 90-degree change in shaft direction before but never 1:1 worm gears.
