I remember NPG well. Obtained my Novice in 1965 in Hawthorne, Nevada.

NPG was
rock solid into Hawthorne 24/7. Or at least it was always there when
I listened. This was just above 4000 kc.

But I never caught any traffic. All I ever heard was the marker.

One of my teachers in high school was Bob K7AZF, who when in
the Navy, copied NPG for real, told me the FC stood for
Fox Circuit.
