Thank you for your reply.
The AGM-45 cross-needle ADI is a novelty to me.
While I thought that there must have been some sort of DF indicator eg.
on the F-105 SEAD variants in Nam, I did not suspect it could have been
integrated with an ADI.
Enclosed please find the pages from the F-105D flight manual, which
depict the ARU-2B/A ADI with the said needles. The manual is from ca.
1969/1970, and it was silent on the details on Shrike aiming and
launching. However, it can be safely assumed that the Shrike targeting
mode using the ADI was simply added later.
