The “hidden issue” is overload / IMD. Neither one is very obvious when it happens. Testing them is complicated or very complicated . I most certainly never went down that road when modifying this sort of gear. Yes, if I was “working on the clock” for somebody I did indeed do more than a bit of that sort of thing.
