Dave – I have several magnetic detectors and they all use much larger than 40 gauge wire. A 40 would break with any stress on it. There are enough photos of the Marconi ones on the web, so no need to send a photo of mine. However, I am attaching photos of two Italian ones, one is a moving wire one and the other a moving magnet one. 73 – Mike

Sadly, copper wire will not do; it must be insulated "soft iron."
Needed for a Marconi Magnetic Detector.
