Colleagues,
I realized that the APW-11A command radar and the APA-90 command
indicator were made by the Aircraft Radio Corp. As I understand, these
avionics pieces were the airborne part of the ground-directed bombing
(GDB) systems of the 1950s.
The APW-11A and APA-90 were fitted in the B-57B and C Canberra, and
F-100D Super Sabre jets.
What kind of equipment was used on the ground to send command signals to
the APW-11A-equipped aircraft?
Enclosed please find a scan from the B-57C manual, which depicts the
airborne part of the system.
