Given the topic of aircraft homing receivers... someone might find my old article on what I call my "Spitfire Receiver" to be of interest,..

The RAF tried this homing receiver in photo reconnaissance aircraft (mostly Spitfires) for return to base, and the Fleet Air Arm used the R.1147 and the more sensitive R.1147a in Seafires and other aircraft for return to carriers.
