[ARC5] German Radio Screws- Caution and Recommendation

Mike Hanz taught me long ago about screw-driver
"cam-out;" using a screwdriver which doesn't
properly fit the slot in the screw head, resulting
in the screwdriver slipping out of the slot
and damaging it. It can end in the need to
drill-out the destroyed screw head
and the "collateral damage" of doing so.

I've been working on German sets lately and
have found, to my surprise, that the screws
are made of a "mild" steel. The screw heads
are easily destroyed if you try using that
cheap, "WallyWorld" Chinese junk they call
"screwdrivers."

I forget who it was in the group who
recommended a Chapman Manufacturing
"Gunsmithing Set" #8900, about $40,
but it has been a God-send which has saved
many screws. It doesn't fit every screw,
but better than 90% of them. Take the time
to fit the correct driver and you will not
need that drill.

Here are photos of the set and the instructions
explaining all this:

Google "chapman screwdriver set 8900" to find
them- priced 45-60 bucks, well-spent.
