The receivers for the ARA, SCR 274 – N, And the ARC-5 are interchangeable. The transmitters for these radio sets or not. The military really doesn’t care what company made their equipment. They were and are more concerned about functionality. So while the USAAF was more invested in the SCR-274-N ( mostly made by Western 🌅Electric, where the BC-453 and BC-946 were the navigational receivers ) the USN ARC-5 and ARA ( Aircraft Radio Corporation) were used more by the USN when that type of command set was installed in an aircraft, and the receivers made by Aircraft Radio Corporation were used. And since ARA and ARC-5 receivers were interchangeable with one another, I suspect that the ARA receivers and ARC-5 navigational receivers served side by side until the USN went with totally new radios for their aircraft.
The ZB homing system stayed in service with the USN until 1960, and was replaced by VOR and TACAN.
