[ARC5] Rheostat Repair

Hi All

One of the wire wound pots for filament control on my TBW-4 has a break in
the wire.

I cleaned the break and added a parallel wire and attempted to solder the
two.

The solder will not stick to the wire on the pot.   I tried different iron
temperatures etc but to no avail.

Any ideas as  to alternate ways to fix this?   Photos attached.
