( A little context: a continuation of a non-list communication; maybe of interest to some others. )
Thanks for the docs. I have a large Japanese radio in a trunk that was sent back, also a complete radio set in a trunk that came from Attu Alaska. Also an aircraft radio that came to the USA in a ship's safe, in 1946, where the MPs searching the ship did not look. Also i recall around 1995 i was offered a Japanese machine gun which had never gotten legal status. So it seems there were a lot of loopholes. Earlier this year i bought a Japanese aircraft radio that was brought back from Manila. The fellow just picked it out from a pile of material and took it into his cargo plane. No paper on that one either. On the orher hand, i bought some parts years back; the fellow said his superior officer had ordered that Japanese radios were to be disassembled, to become legitimate war souvenirs. My father said he brought back from Europe 3 Luger pistols, which he sold here, and he kept only the flags and medals militaria.
