Most of those I have checked have center-tapped filaments. I assume those could be wired 
to switch each half on and off.

Also, some of them would be able to output over 5 watts as transmitters. The 12AU7 has a 
plate dissipation rating of 2.5 watts and the 12BH7's is 3.5 watts.

It might be fun to experiment with those.

My only question is how to implement sidetone monitoring.
