Frank Aveling, who died some years ago, told me he was at the place
"Million Dollar Point" when the military was dumping war surplus equipment,
especially aircraft.  He told me he saw men with 44 gallon drums, a hose
and funnel on jeeps or pick-up truck.  They were draining avgas from
aircraft by striking the wing with a pick-axe.  After that the wreck was
pushed into the ocean.
