My friend Alex Magoun, Outreach Historian for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is a good guy who I have trusted with family heirlooms when he was curator of the Sarnoff Museum. He asked me to help with his quest:
"The IEEE History Center in Piscataway, NJ, preserves and promotes the history of electric, electronic, and computer technologies for the world's largest technology professional organization. For a travelling exhibit on radio circuit pioneer Edwin Howard Armstrong, it would like to borrow one of the 50,000 SCR-300 FM transceivers, the original "walkie-talkie," made during World War II. The set should be externally intact, with handset and antenna; it does not need to be in working order, include the harness gear, or contain the BA-70/80 battery, although one or the case of one could be displayed alongside it.
The center expects the exhibit to tour in 2024-2025. Interested lenders will be credited by name or anonymously as desired. If you can help, please contact outreach historian Alex Magoun at the center, a.b.magoun at ieee.org. Thanks! "
Please contact Alex if you can help or would like more information.
Thanks, Rob K2WI
