Regardless of how good propagation was in those years, how do you work Hamburg, Germany, spy HQ, consistently from New York 
using a makeshift, less than DX grade antenna and 20 watts output max? You aren't working a DX contest, where you do or not make
contact, oh well, I'll try again tomorrow, or the day after that...
'Agent 146' has his account of buying a 6L6 tube in New York City. I am guessing from that, he had one of those transmitters that 
plugged in the final audio of a home radio.
