I'm also a life-time lover of the Longwaves.
After the needless extinction of marine CW
in 1999 and the equally needless
"fade to black" of North American NDBs,
it reminds me of a quote from King,
paraphrased:

"All is quiet in the Halls of the Dead.
  All is forgotten in the Halls of the Dead.
  Behold the transmitters, cold and dark.
  Behold the stations in ruins.
  These are the Halls of the Dead,
  where the spiders spin
  and the great signals fall silent
  one... by one."
