[ARC5] Is "Price Insanity" Really Insane?

Several weeks back I agreed to help a friend sell some government surplus GPSmap 296 units he had acquired at an auction. I also suggested we try to sell a complete working Navcom installation and a complete ADF system he had removed from an airplane he was rebuilding. He said that no one would want the Navcom or ADF, but I listed them on ebay for $99 each and got no bids. I then dropped the opening bid price on the Navcom to $79 and it sold for $122, which was more than all but one of the GPS units we sold. My friend was astonished, saying he must have thrown away over $100K of radio equipment over the years. But while the Navcom sale went very well, the GPS unit sales were pretty much a pain in the arse, featuring idiots who tried to charge them using the USB data port and one who did not even insert a battery. And one crook complained bitterly and repeatedly that he did not understand that the No Antennas notice in the auction meant No Antennas, demanded a refund and got it and then did not return the unit.
So, as a result I will no longer sell anything on ebay again. And if anyone wants to pay $50 plus shipping for a complete ARC ADF 12VDC solid state system, with connectors but without harness, let me know.
