Well the cost in todays dollars depends a lot on what you are buying.
In 1946 a nice lot high atop the Palos Verdes Peninsula south of Los Angeles sold for $1500.
At that same time brand new P-38's were selling for $1500 by the War Assets Admin.
Either of those today would sell for millions of dollars.
But how about a nice house in downtown Detroit? What would that sell for today?
