I used to work in the FAA depot shop that
repaired them but that ended when I
retired in 2011. I never worked on them,
though. Over weight and overpriced.
IIIRC, they were made in Hartshorne ,OK
I don’t have any data , either. never
wanted to ever see one again!

My friends and I met at Fair Radio Sales on Thursday and we had a great time thoroughly inspecting everything and selecting items for purchase. The "dungeon" nature of the rear sections of the store adds to the sense of adventure. We knew that would be the situation so we each brought our latest favorite flashlights.

I was pleased that there was a willingness to seriously negotiate prices on marked or website items. And the various unmarked chassis, modules, pieces, and parts I selected were all priced quite reasonably when we discussed them at the counter.

It was well worth my trip from Wisconsin - both for the chance to see my friends and to buy some interesting surplus.

One of the used, complete, repairable items I picked up is the FAA FA-8979 (aka model TRX-102) VHF AM transceiver. Unfortunately I forgot to get the manual - anyone know of an online source for at least the schematic?
