When I was at the Pentagon I was asked to go to a meeting in DC concerning frequency allocations for commercial space launches.  The existing S-band allocation was specified for government launches only. There must have been about two dozen people sitting around that big table.  They started to explain, "Now, Major, there is something called WARC."  

I replied, "Yes, I know about WARC.  I am an amateur radio operator."  This brought big smiles all around.  They were not going to have to explain frequency allocations to a complete dunce.  
By DC standards was a very short and amicable meeting.
