[ARC5] A crystal or a stable signal source?

A while back, when the crystal oscillator in my SG-297 kept failing, blowing out crystals, I replaced it with a 3 terminal voltage regulator powering an OTS MHZ frequency standard, built into a octal plug crystal oven.  It worked great, drove the harmonic oscillator just fine.

So, sometimes, a modern replacement makes more sense than maintaining authenticity.
