OH, sorry, forgot one more thing. At the birthday party, the speaker showed an issue of the local newspaper, the Newport News-Times, which recently published a
letter from Frank criticizing the paper's "journalistic standards". His letter was in response to some previous letter to the editor which as I recall, ran like a political
ad. I recalled seeing Frank's letter in the newspaper, but I didn't make the connection.

As to longevity:  1. good genes, family history of longevity  2. lifelong activity, not necessarily running or weight lifting, but exercise  3. intelligence and resilience,  a 
live mind  4. luck ( as in his wartime activity )
