[ARC5] [Milsurplus] Motor tuned ARR-2 ?

This topic reminded me of another question on my mind long ago. I long ago had an R-26M / ARC-5 receiver, sold it with a bunch of
other Command Sets. This was long, long ago. I do regret not keeping some of those little things. I thought the R-26M was 
especially interesting looking. But what I wonder, is with the manual tuning control still available on the motor adapter unit, is the 
tuning more "crude", I mean, "faster", not as good as with the original direct tuning knob, or the same ? I recall that it seemed not
nearly as good, if you wanted to tune around the band, which of course was not done with this setup anyway.
