[ARC5] BC-375: "Once more unto the breach, dear friends!"

191s and 375s look much cooler running with the tube section cover removed, especially in an otherwise dimly lit shack. And you can make a hell of a jammer transmitter by going key down on CW a while simultaneously waving your hand close up to the MO211. Or you can go on FM without a microphone simply by close talking the MO tube!

I have been running a 191 for many years on 80 and 160 on both CW and AM using an original BD-77 12V to 1KV dynamotor. Back on December, worked across the pond with it on 160 CW the night before the AWA’s 1BCG replica transmitter was put on the air from the CT Radio and Electronics Museum in Windsor CT. I was part of the local team that supported the museum’s hosting of the event. The AWA President was there and told me he had received emails from the stations I had worked in the UK the night before, who apparently thought they had worked the 1BCG replica transmitter.

I put it on 630 meters this past winter and it worked well there, making about 75 watts output, but with disappointingly little chirp. Mike, WA1JAS up in Maine also runs one on 630 meters and I believe he has worked across the pond with it. Both of our 191s have just enough chirp to make their signals stand out from the more modern rigs others are using.

Put a KV on yours and it’ll probably make rated 75 watts output just fine. But be careful handling those 211s!
