[ARC5] Drake AC-4 power supply tester suggests a similar approach to testing ARC-5 Tx’s and Rx’s?

In the latest ER issue, #389, I couldn’t help but think the Drake TR-4 power supply(AC-4) tester article, that uses four inexpensive DMM’s to monitor voltages (starts on page 29), might be an easy and affordable way to build a tester for ARC-5 Tx’s and Rx’s power supplies!

However would modify the circuitry so that you could read current. For example reading the voltage drop across a 10 ohm resistor in series in each leg of B+, screen grid and oscillator voltages, and then properly interpolated, would give one a current reading of each.

Instead of using a separate switch to read current, simply add 3 more DMM’s… No switching needed.

I can’t jump into a project right now, but it’s something I’ll be thinking about for later in the year.
