Hello Hue.

Could it have been Jim Creek, NLK, that you heard in the San Juans?

"Established in 1953, the transmitter radiates on 24.8 kHz with a power of 1.2 megawatts and a callsign of NLK, and is one of the most powerful transmitters in the world.[1]<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FJim_Creek_Naval_Radio_Station%23cite_note-1&data=04%7C01%7C%7C8c6958b59a404c952a1f08d9f0e1c2a4%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637805674686635506%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=mZb0calrCDsPQshRo4nnyuwF%2B4MjDb7oBnMFFHruV5s%3D&reserved=0> Located near Arlington, Washington<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FArlington%2C_Washington&data=04%7C01%7C%7C8c6958b59a404c952a1f08d9f0e1c2a4%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637805674686635506%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=Jbn7N2%2FkfQHwFFwDPAeowsBkqXgUs%2FgVGZDarzSy7SU%3D&reserved=0>, in the foothills of the Cascades<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FCascade_Range&data=04%7C01%7C%7C8c6958b59a404c952a1f08d9f0e1c2a4%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637805674686635506%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=E702o1hMgkjRPMnFudrgPxmM5Pc0kumzxKRPn7v8Erg%3D&reserved=0>, north of Seattle...".

We could hear NLK on everything including a dull razor when I was a kid in Seattle.
