Years ago I talked with Pete Peterson of the PSARA Seattle antique radio club. He had flown in the immediate postwar years
as radio op in several different USN planes. He told me about flying PBYs ( the seaplane ) to the Philippines to be donated to
the Philippine Navy. These ships, I think 2, maybe more, were still equipped with the early war installed equipment, that is,
RU and GO. I expressed wonder that you could actually communicate with a receiver that broad tuning and he replied that
he considered it a pretty good receiver. He was there, I wasn't; he was right; I was wrong.
I recall now talking with Jack Strayer of Seattle, an old - time surplus hound also, and he told me that PBYs for S&R based out
of Seattle, postwar years, still had the original GO-9 and RAX receivers.
