Dave, he might after some time, see the hard reality.
I do sometimes wonder what happens to some things on Ebay that are priced like treasures,
when in reality they are merely wonders, and possibly the actual value is something the seller
would not consider packing and shipping for so little pay. I mean, like a neatly and imaginatively
RU receiver whose photos I saved. I did wonder about this conversion effort: "Why?"
At a hamfest I saw once a very converted ARB receiver, took me some moments to recognize
its starting point. The seller said his dad he built this radio to use when they went hunting, I
suppose in the car. I thought, all that work for who knows, an hour drive each way. No one else
at the hamfest recognized it, and I didn't feel up to saving this castaway. So who knows how that
story ended, but I can guess. The other day on a ham net I heard some fellow talking about he
needed one more state for an FT8 WAS, and my reaction was pretty much same as above, "Well,
okay."
