No, this is a mistaken idea enshrined also in U.S. Army literature. The distinctive "frame aerials" seen on scout cars
and command panzers were essentially nothing but one plate of a capacitor. The frame length was such a short
fraction of wavelength that the radiation pattern would be like from a point. You would imagine the antenna
efficiency would be pretty low, say at around 1.5 MHz.
