Robert,
Thanks for your information on the MX-21 mod and the gearing on my modified R-27 receiver. Yes, I found the the extra audio wire run to the front connector.

On an unrelated issue, I can see now how the backer plate could have been used as a template for drilling the holes in the front panel for attaching the Yardney remote tuner. Just place the backer plate over the front panel so that its six holes that surround the dial axle location are over the six rivet heads surrounding that location and you are ready to drill.
