Above you will find 3 pictures of USAAF CW keys.  The first two photos are pictures of an Army issue “Fireproof” keys. These would have been used at the dedicated radioman’s station inside multi engine aircraft. Do’t let the “Fireproof” label fool you. The key contacts are covered in order to not expose a spark to any possible aerosol fuel source around the radioman’s station. The third picture is a BC-451-A transmitter control, used with the SCR-274-N ( the ARC-5 equivalent is the C-30-A/ ARC-5 control box. The two are not interchangeable without modification).   The big round black disk-like button on top of this control box is a CW key ( the worlds krapiest CW key ).   The SCR-274-N, especially in fighter aircraft were really used mostly for phone.
