[ARC5] HA-1 telephone speaker for BC-946

I read in Orr’s “Surplus Radio Conversion Manual” vol. III that a telephone HA-1 speaker can be fitted in the front compartment of a BC-946.  The telephone speaker I have is from a later telephone with a dimension of 1 13/16 inch diameter which is too large.  Besides it sounds terrible, hardly understandable and not much volume.
If someone has a HA-1 speaker would you measure the diameter fo me.  Has anyone made this conversion, and how does it sound? And if someone has an “extra” HA-1, I would gladly buy it.  Thanks.
