[ARC5] (OT) Another marine radio on the ham bands

To some points in recent posts here:

1- I have a Coast Guard TRC-109, such as Dave illustrated, which I will be selling, either here or Ebay.
I can supply a copy manual. I may have some extra 3-legged crystals for repurposing. This set is a little
different. The transmitter is a single 6L6. The receiver is tunable.

2- Boat radios at hamfests - at least out here on the Far Left Coast: they are unsellable. Sometimes
offered free.

3- SCR-274 in 100 foot cutters: I have a page of documentation ( somewhere ) that establishes this.
But, was a 100 foot cutter large enough to be stationed hundreds of miles at sea ?

4- BS: I have twice, maybe thrice, talked to veterans, or at least people old enough to be veterans, whom
I later figured out were adept at "streaming BS". I mean, they appeared to be able to pick up cues from me
and extemporize BS on the spot. Quite a skill, really. Kinda like "rap" or hip-hop, maybe, and just as valuable.
The ability to sort out BS is a skill developed only after a good while of learning on your own. Then you can
think to yourself, "Well, enough of this BS, time to end this discussion".

5- I wouldn't count out that fellow who said he was in the "Air Force in WWII". That's just one way of wording
it, and is not "dispositive".
