A few years back, I bought at a hamfest a Northern Radio ( Seattle ) model 253.
The seller told me it came from "Bering sea fishing". Well, maybe; but I liked the story
anyway. At the time I was full speed ahead collecting Northern Radio ( Seattle ) products.
Since then, I am still interested in all their products and history, but collecting all their
boat radios is unfeasible for me. One thing I like about the 253 is that it has a front panel
pull-off cover for access to the loading coil, and the receiver is tunable 2 - 3 MHz. Somewhere
I have an actual ad flyer for the radio too. The 253 looks tuff, is large and black wrinkle, with
knobs, and is mysterious and practically unknown - maybe I'm the only one. All elements
that appeal to me.
