I picked up a HP-606A about 30 years ago to give the URM-25D a rest while I overhauled it. After a few weeks it started acting up and after removing the case found a few 12B4A's running red. All the PS electrolytics were leaky. After a full overhaul of those and some other parts and tubes as needed and a good alignment it worked fine but I felt it ran too hot on my 123VAC line and a small 12V bucking transformer was added. Since then it is very stable after a short warm up even on 6M. Picked up another a few months later and did the same to give the HP-8640B a rest from regular use due to its various potential problems and use it sparingly above 65 MHz.
The URM-25D is on another bench for tube auto radios and consumer BCB and Short Wave tube radios such as Zenith, Philco, RCA, etc from the 30-40's.
The 606A's are good enough even for overhauling HRO-500's with small counters sitting on top, the absolutely low phase noise is wonderful to have.

It works very well, and has both AM and FM modulation built in, but the power output meter gets a bit erratic. Also, you really need a digital frequency counter to use with it since the "slide rule" tuning can't be read with much accuracy; my Tek 2236 scope does well for that up to about 100 MHZ

Turned out that it was simply a matter of the tuning shaft getting loose from the tuning cap. Superglue fixed that, and aside from needing a small bit of recalibation on a couple of the bands, I am sure it'll do good job.
