Those SCR-624 tank radios had both 12V and 24V dynamotors and I even have some of the 12V verisions that were put on DM-32 dynamotor bases for use on ARC Type 12 Gear. And the BCC-224 used a 12V dynamotor with a compatible output voltage. Tthe DM-53 and DM-25 dynamotors were 12V input as well. So suitable 12V dynamotors were around.
I recall a former Army officer saying that they did not like running the tanks just so they could keep the the batteries charged and the radios working, so they bought small gasoline generators to take care of that. But they bought 12V generators, so each 12V bettery in the 24V system had to be charged indivdually.
