[ARC5] Boom Box Find

I found a discarded Sharp Boom Box the other day, with a dual casette player-recorder and a radio with AM BCB, LW 150-230 KHZ, SW 6 to 18 MHZ and FM 88-109 MHZ.  The AM section works great, as does the SW, and probably the LW.  The FM section does not work, but when I tuned it to around the frequency of a local station at 99.3 MHZ and then tuned my HP8654 signal genrator to around 110 MHZ the FM came booming right in, and could be heard over most of the band.

Just curious, is it possible that the FM LO in the boom box is bad and the HP8654 signal is replacing it?
