[ARC5] 6AG7 and 6AG7Y

Wow, now I am impressed by these tubes.
In the Navy MAR UHF receiver a 6AG7 is used as a oscillator doubler but then after two 6C4 tripplers the 6AG7Y is used as a VHF high level mixer!!!!!!

Here's the listing from Lud Sibley's "Tube Lore II" a book you should not be without. It fills in the chink between what we find in the usual tube manuals.

Micanol is mica filled Bakelite (brown stuff) for low loss at high frequencies. All the one's I see were JAN spec, which generally means tighter inspection at the factory. There might not be a lot of difference between 6AG7 and 6AG7Y in the real world.

Can't find full spec on Y but I do know there is a big difference between the 4CX300A and 4CX300Y tubes.
Maybe the 6AG7Y is later more durable tube???
