The 4CX300Y has 400W plate dissipation rather than 300W.
Clearly the numbering schemes are different for the receiving tubes and transmitting tubes.
Thanks

CAUTION: External Sender

As several others have written, a “Y” suffix when found on any metal octal tube means that the tube has a low-loss base. So it will perform better at its upper frequency limit. I will add that the “Y” suffix is generally an acceptable replacement for any metal octal type (and most G and GT types) except maybe the “W”. But that statement only applies to octal tubes. I have no idea what the “Y” signifies on a 4CX300Y.

Does anyone know the difference between the 6AG7 and 6AG7Y tubes?

Can't find full spec on Y but I do know there is a big difference between the 4CX300A and 4CX300Y tubes.

Maybe the 6AG7Y is later more durable tube???
