There's on Youtube a video of that Norwegian fellow LA6NCA I think, using a throat mic with, if I recall, the 
Panzer set pair, as original. See how that sounds and then consider if your statement needs some revision.

The only problem using a throat mic was that the recipient of any transmission couldn’t understand a single word that was said. Throat mics looked great in the movies, but sucked in reality.
