[ARC5] Talking to Airplanes From the Ground

I had no idea that many BC-1306 were produced. I thought it would be much less.
I still feel bad about that first TRC-2 I owned, and lost. But at least I still have one
now. I also have both versions of the PP-239 ( probably wrong, and I don't remember
the correct number right now. )

I think the SCR-288 had potential for the Pacific War. The frequency range could
have been raised bottom 2.3 to 3.3 or 4 MHz with corresponding increase top end.
A crystal socket on front panel and toggle switch for it would have made it usable for
the stay-behinds and coastwatchers, where crystal controlled transmit was absolutely
essential.

U.S. doctrine seemed to be to rule out regen receivers. I think that decision was not all
that wise. A 3-valve regen uses much less battery and if you're halfway intelligent you
can tell when its regen control is set right. The only regen receiver used by Allies in
Pacific War that I know of was the homebrew transceivers built by the OSS in Burma -
India.

Nice display material, Al.
