[ARC5] Jeep’s with ARC-5 radios

Years ago, and I mean something like 40, I was talking with a WWII vet about radio equipment.
He told me, and this was not hearsay, that the GP transmitter was evaluated for possible portable
use in the CBI war area. The testing would have been done in India. At the time I thought this was
unimaginable, altho I did not doubt him. Now I am wondering if by  this use evaluation he actually 
meant more like "mobile". 

As for aircraft equipment used on the surface, we do know:
SCR-183 used in airfield ambulance
Command Set SCR-274 used in Coast Guard 100 foot cutter
RU-GF in Marine Corps self propelled gun
Not major users, to be sure, but it happened.
