Well, first- there were far less of the type-12
systems built, so bits and pieces are scarce.
You're right about the control boxes being difficult.

Secondly, when they did show-up at someone's estate
sale or at a hamfest, there was (and still is) little
interest in VHF AM.  Only "we few, we happy few"
who value their form and/or history would take them.
The majority are now beer cans or mouldering in the dump.
