Poly Paks was a great resource for those experimenters who had limited funds.
You just had to understand that the parts may have not met spec. That seemed to have all of the latest parts mentioned in QST and Ham Radio Magazine articles.
My last and most ambitious project with Poly Paks parts was a frequency counter for my BC-779A Super Pro receiver using TTL logic. It was based on the 74192 programmable decade counter so I could offset the frequency to compensate for the IF. I tested the 192 chips to determine which one had the highest toggle frequency and fed that chip from the Schmidt Trigger input circuit.
That was 35 - 40 years ago. I can remember the circuitry but I cannot remember what I had for dinner last night.
