[ARC5] BC-189-A

This forlorn looking BC-189 I have owned for untold years. I am realizing I have multiple interests, too many,
and not getting much done on any, so a lot has to do. As Captian "Sully" Sullenberger said, "Sacrifice lessor
goals for the greater".
I wonder if any reader here is inspired to take this on. It is not a hopeless task. If you were here in person,
I would give it to you. If shipping is involved, there are the probably breathtaking shipping charges plus
maybe $10 to me for my trouble, maybe $15, maybe zero.
There is only one coil, the coil in it, for 650 - ? 1000 ? kHz, despite the log chart for the 2600 - 4000 kHz
range. I have other photos of the back and connector side. Except for the rough treatment to the front
panel, it appears complete and well, basically unhacked. I do not have any schematic, but I think maybe
the old time Editors & Engineers surplus radios schematics compilation might have it.
I don't think this will fit any Flat Rate box, as it's too long, I think.
And oh yes, I do NOT want it to go to someone like me, who will only store it. Should go to someone who
has the intent, time, means, and capability to restore it.
Question: in ground use, was it paired ever with the BC-223 ?
I recall maybe 10, maybe 15 years ago a real nice BC-189 with multiple coils appeared on Ebay. We
patriots here were all too damn cheap and it sold, $1500. Okay you say, none of us wanted to pay that
much, but in the itemization of our year's expenses that is just one more entry. Yes, I should have bid
on it, my mistake as well. So it went overseas, and to a non English speaking country to boot, where it
can be displayed with no context and little understanding.
