Much appreciated link. The father of former coworker of mine was a Black Cat pilot. Although I certainly don’t remember it, my first aircraft flight was in a PBY when my mother was about 4 months along before I was born, and she was working In the offices of Remmert-Werner Aircraft at Lindbergh Field in St. Louis. They did a lot of post-war conversions of PBYs, and military transports to executive aircraft. My mom and a number of office staffers were taken up for joyrides periodically. I was told that the PBY was being converted for TV and radio personality, pilot, (and ham radio operator K4LIB), Arthur Godfrey. As far as I have been able to tell however, he never owned a PBY. He did have a DC-3 converted, which was more than likely also being worked on at RW when my mother worked there.
Needless to say, my first model airplane kit as a kid was a PBY!
