Some smaller utility aircraft had trailing wires, such as the C-45 (Beech 18), and the UC-78/ AT-17 Bamboo Bomber (Cessna Bobcat)

That seems possible.  

What we need is for one of our members to hit the lottery so he can spend about 6 months up in Washington digging through all the archives. I'll go buy my ticket.

Were there smaller planes of the non – fighter class, such as OS2U, that used Command type equipment only,
and DID have trailing wire antenna capability, that these rare sets were possibly envisioned for ?
