[ARC5] AC Motor Start Caps as Filters

I was helping a friend troublshoot a 7.5 hp AC motor the other day and was very surprised to see that the start caps were 1200 mfd at 125V, connected in series.  I tested them and they seemed to hold a DC charge well, but it turned out that the motor stator winding was burnt out. 

Would those caps be usable as filter caps in a DC power supply?
