Well, first of all, I've been haunting eBay for some years, watching for what looks like a 
decent one. Although I have not yet opened this one, from all appearances, it appears to be 
unusually nice. I'll report more info as soon as I can. 

As I mentioned, the cost for the receiver was $82.00, which I considered to be "reasonable". 
Shipping was also a little over $82.00 which I thought was outrageous, but given today's 
climate, I expected it.

Yes. So far, I have been unusually lucky in that regard. About 10 years ago, I bought an 
HRO-50-R1 off ebay, with a big bunch of coils, and a speaker/coil cabinet for what I thought 
at the time was a very reasonable price. It arrived very poorly packed, but without any 
damage. It was an ex-FAA receiver and I was very glad to get it.

I understand.

Well, at this point, I consider myself lucky, so far.
